Make a difference to our environment
Volunteer with us!
Whether you’re an individual or a family, enjoying being out in the bush or prefer the admin work, whether you have a lot of time or a little, there are so many ways to lend us a helping hand.
Join us to create a lasting legacy of a predator-controlled forest bridge from the Kaipara Coast to the Pacific Ocean where native plants, birds and animals can thrive and be enjoyed by everyone.
See our volunteer opportunities and register your interest.
Everyone is welcome!
Everyone is welcome! You can become our Piwakawaka Volunteer – someone who is new to the Forest Bridge Trust movement and keen to support us with your passion, experience and skills.
If you show regular commitment, you will be our Tui Volunteer who are confident that the kaupapa of the Forest Bridge Trust is something you want to contribute to.
Our Ruru Volunteers are those who have been volunteering with the Trust for some time. They stepped up to take on a role that has greater responsibility and supports their peers.
The Forest Bridge Trust always ensures our trapping volunteers undertake competency and safety training to carry out their roles successfully and have access to the tools and equipment they may need. We are currently planning to offer more training opportunities to our long-term volunteers and those who want to step up into leadership or more skilled role. And finally, we know how important it is to be able to connect with others, so we look forward to seeing our volunteers at our annual BBQs which bring local groups together to connect face to face and appreciate each other’s input.
Because we are committed to ensuring that our volunteers have a rewarding experience with us, we have developed an initial orientation for newcomers. This will provide a brief overview of our organisation, introduce you to some of our staff, volunteer opportunities and review the Volunteer Agreement and Handbook, including Policies and Procedures. We run Volunteer Orientation days when we have sufficient numbers to attend, so we will advise you of the next available space if you decide to sign up with The Forest Bridge Trust.
Our Philosophy towards volunteering is:
“Volunteering is at the heart of the community engagement work of the Forest Bridge Trust.
Our volunteers bring unique talents, skills and knowledge to assist in the protection, enhancement and connection of forests, wetlands and other landscapes that help provide a safe habitat for our indigenous wildlife.
In return we provide a unique experience that values the volunteer’s skills and contribution and recognises that without them, the Trust would not be able to achieve its goals”.
